The CCP still having large support in China offered to help the ROC by uniting to fight(in hopes that in the end they could backstab them and overthrow them). It seemed to be a victory for the KMT now known again as the Republic of China, but it just got worse as Japan started to invade. Those who where left of the CCP marched into exile to avoid death although only 7000 of the 8000 that started the march made it.
Any ways the KMT on there 5th campaign finally broke through and destroyed the enemy down to a few thousand. But anyways the war went on and turned into a stale mate for 10 years. The ones who wanted radical change would come to be known as the CCP and they would be backed by the soviet union who wanted the CCP to overthrow the previous government(KMT) and make China a ally of itself and kind of like a puppet state. In this war their where 2 sides, a side that wanted to keep the government the same, and ones who wanted radical change. After his death however their was a power struggle that led to the civil war that I mentioned earlier. In the period in between there was kind of a president in what was called the Republic of China. So the Chinese Civil war started in the late 1920's which was about 10 and a half years after the fall of the last true Chinese Dynasty, The Qing.
